Sports Diver

The second part of the BSAC syllabus is Sports Diver. It is considered by BSAC to be equivalent to PADI rescue Diver and CMAS One Star Diver. Here a diver expands his skills to greater depths and more importantly learns rescue and recuperation techniques vital in an emergency. Sports Diver is split into six theory lessons, one pool session and five open water dives.

A qualified Sports Diver is able to dive with other divers of the same level, as well as Ocean Divers and more advanced level divers. An initial limit of 20 metres depth can be extended by diving with a Dive Leader, under the supervision of a Dive Marshal, up to a maximum of 35 metres. Ocean divers can take part in decompression stops, make emergency rescues and administer CPR to other divers.
